To improve the digital literacy competencies of teachers and educational support specialists, which enables the creation of high-quality teaching/learning content, the use of convenient tools and secure platforms. Using new digital educational tools, we expected the participants to learn to create distance and/or face-to-face teaching lessons that promote engagement, personalization and active student participation. Examples of good practice to be taken and shared with colleagues at school and/or district. By improving digital competences and gaining more experience, after comparing the good experiences of various countries, we expected the teachers to gain more confidence in their abilities, expecting them to experience success in involving students in active, modern activities - which allow changing the negative attitudes of the society towards students with special needs.
Radviliskis Grazina’s Basic School provides pre-school, primary, basic, primary-individualized, basic-individualized and informal education and also it is one of only two schools in our region with Special Education Department and provides special education to children and young people with different intellectual disabilities who attend rehabilitation-and-education classes and activities till they reach age of 21.The school takes into account the diversity of students' educational needs. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the teaching and learning process and has undoubtedly damaged the physical and mental health of students, increased poverty and limited opportunities for learning.We observe a particularly large gap in the implementation of digital technologies in the teaching content among teachers, educational support specialists working with students with special needs and special education classes.Seeing this as a weakness of our school, we strive to ensure that all children have equal access to quality, inclusive education in both distance and contact education. We aim to improve the quality development of digital content implementation skills for school teachers working with students with special needs.
