During the project we aimed to improve teachers’ linguistic skills, to motivate them to communicate with teachers of foreign schools, to share good practice with colleagues abroad. Teachers have much experience and share it with colleagues in Lithuanian schools, therefore, we wanted to bring this experience to the international community. In addition, we wanted to encourage community members to integrate global ideas, problems in formal and non-formal education and pursue holistic education. With the student mobility we aimed to introduce students with the neighboring country and its cultural heritage, to encourage them to introduce themselves in the international context, to perceive themselves as active citizens of Lithuania, Europe and the World, to form students’ value attitudes in the intercultural context.
Global challenges related to migration process are inevitable not only in education system but also in the society. In order to change the attitudes of community members, teachers have to expand their way of thinking, their perceptions, have to identify themselves with European challenges and find solutions to overcome them. Schools often lack practice how to teach children and the whole community to grow accepting different people, cultures, races, religions. Acceptance comes only through knowledge, therefore, the Erasmus project aimed to introduce community with a broader perception of the world around us. Trying to strengthen teachers’ intercultural competence, practical activities such as intercultural exchanges, improvement of linguistic skills that would help teachers to organize interculturally-oriented education are necessary. Teachers have great professional experience that share with different Lithuanian schools, however, we want to share it with a broader community, international colleagues thus contributing to the development of European education area.
