Objectives

1) Strengthen adult learners' literacy skills (reading in small groups, artistic expression and book trailers creation). 2) To equip adult learners and trainers with important digital skills. 3) To improve competences that strengthen skill development and creativity, as well as to increase the quality, innovation and recognition of non-formal learning in adult education. 4) To create small networks at the local level between partners and local public libraries. 5) To give to local learning processes an international dimension. 6) To make learners feeling included into society and connected with other adults in Europe. 7) Promoting Erasmus for adult learners as a second chance to upgrade basic skills. 8) To achieve a big main Project Result, the "First European Digital Library of Book Trailers and Creative Expressions".

Background

"EU-READ&ART" was born from the synergy of 7 partners that are facing the same challenges training adult learners, low skilled at the level of basic literacy, languages, and digital competencies with the direct consequence of very high level of demotivation, isolation and unemployment. A survey among partners underlined the presence of another worrying phenomenon affecting adults: the functional illiteracy. Despite having a successful formal education career, adults can become functional illiterates. Functional illiteracy has considerable negative effects not only on personal development but also in economic and social terms. Adult educators and trainers need to be equipped with new digital skills. There is a need to meet adult learners who have experienced isolation and clearly reduced levels of educational success, particularly in literacy and language skills. Book reading is important in this case, but less and less people read. The realization of book trailers allows for the development of important digital, literacy and communication skills. Book trailers are smart, shareable and help promote books, their authors, the same video creators, the Erasmus Plus program and the mosaic of cultures around the world.
