Objectives

The project aimed to support adult education organisations and adult educators in the pathway for digital transformation to high-quality inclusive online training by developing the Learning Hub “Digital Transformation”. Six objectives of the project were defined as follows: 1. To support the resilience and build the capacity of adult education organisations and their educational staff to implement digital transformation for high quality inclusive online training. 2. To develop the digital skills of adult educators-practitioners to deliver high quality inclusive online training. 3. To create the assessment tool to evaluate the digital competences of adult educators with the possibility of awarding micro-credentials. 4. Supporting adult educators-facilitators to provide online training on digital transformation for adult educators-practitioners. 5. To integrate digital technology into subject-specific online training on gender equality. 6. To promote the inclusion of adult learners facing gender discrimination barriers in the labour market and society. Thus, the objectives of the project were defined according to the needs of the four target groups of the project.

Background

An OECD study in 2018 found that less than 40% of educators felt ready to use digital technologies in teaching, moreover the COVID-19 crisis showed the increased need for digital transformation to high quality inclusive online training in Europe, however, adult educators across Europe were in the situation of continuing the training that started as classroom-based to online, with no or very little professional training for this digital transformation, and low quality online training could not ensure the active participation of learners. The project responded to the need of adult education organisations and their staff to develop resilience and capacity to implement digital transformation plans and quality assurance mechanisms for the delivery of high-quality online training. It also met the need of adult educators-practitioners to develop digital literacy skills to effectively integrate digital technology into the training. The project involved learners with fewer opportunities, especially those facing gender discrimination barriers in the labour market, to participate in subject-specific digitally-transformed training that met their needs to overcome gender stereotypes for better inclusion in the labour market and society.
