The main achievement of the project is a specific STEAM curriculum in the native languages of ethnic minorities involved in this project. This includes a handbook for educators in different European languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Russian, French), 18 lesson plans (English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Russian, French, German) Project's partnership involving schools, STEAM centres & institutions in the development of digital resources developed an educational platform (missionsteam.eu) and ensured more teacher resources are provided and accessible, in both content and pedagogical knowledge. This will support primary school teachers in bringing innovation to their STEAM classes. Another great achievement is that project reached many a high number of student with ethnic minority background from around the world (USA, Argentina, Singapore, United Kingdom, Austria, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Sweden, Oman, Finland, Norway etc)
The general aim of the project was to increase and sustain the interest in STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) among children coming from ethnic minorities to, later on, follow the STEAM pathway. The main reason is that the interest and perception in learning process of children from ethnic minorities become a difficult process as they have to face and resolve other issues: adaptation, cultural shock, learning a new language etc. This makes them to also stay apart from being engaged in STEAM subject at the age when they are most eager to learn. It is difficult to learn STEAM subjects in foreign language as it requires additional linguistic skills in order to understand the terminology and the content itself. The perception of STEAM studies as being too difficult can hinder their interest later on. Particularly, inability to make first steps in STEAM in the native tongue drops down the chance of young people with ethnic minority background succeed in STEAM careers. Main need addressed over the project is a need to offer primary school students with ethnic background access to high-quality learning resources and materials to guide them through STEAM education and pursue a career in STEAM field
