The Erasmus+ Youth Cooperation Partnership project "MOSI LIFE: Modelling Situations for Life" seeks to encourage youth with SEN (having fewer opportunities) to overcome difficulties in dealing with daily life situations, and therefore to improve their chances for better social inclusion possibilities. For this target, group-oriented, attractive and innovative methods are used.
The most recent statistics in Europe suggest that at least 15.4% of the school population have a special educational need which is defined as follows: ‘A child or young person has Special Educational Needs (SEN) if he or she has learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for him or her to learn than most other children and young people of about the same age’. However, these numbers are increasing yearly, especially now after COVID pandemic, the mental health of young people is getting worse and this leads to increasing numbers of youth having SEN. It is worth mentioning that according to a report published by the European Commission (EC), Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, a strong political consensus has emerged in Europe on the importance of inclusive education, and ensuring young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) are included within mainstream education. The report goes on concluding that mutual learning and the sharing of best practice on the provision of support for children with SEN are lacking at the European level. Erasmus+ project MOSI LIFE is going together with European Youth Goals #3 Inclusive societies, #5 Mental Health & Wellbeing and #8 Quality Learning.
