Objectives

By implementing the STEAM-Connect project, we aimed to achieve several key objectives. Firstly, we wanted to promote interest and excellence in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education by integrating arts into STEM subjects, making learning more engaging and relevant for students. Secondly, we sought to support teachers by providing innovative pedagogical methods and resources, enabling them to implement STEAM education in their classrooms effectively. Thirdly, we aimed to foster digital transformation in education by developing digital readiness, resilience, and capacity among educators and students. Additionally, we wanted to create a collaborative learning environment that encourages co-teaching and the exchange of best practices among teachers. Another objective was to enhance students' critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for future challenges. We also aimed to build a sustainable network of international learning communities to facilitate ongoing collaboration and innovation in STEAM education. Ultimately, our goal was to ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of the project's outcomes, contributing to advancing STEAM education globally.

Background

We applied for the STEAM-Connect project to address the critical need for innovative and engaging STEAM education. The project aimed to bridge the gap between STEM and the arts, fostering a transdisciplinary approach that enhances both fields. We identified a need to promote interest and excellence in STEAM subjects, support teachers in adopting new pedagogical methods, and address digital transformation in education. By integrating arts into STEM, we sought to make learning more relevant and enjoyable for students, increasing their motivation and engagement. The project also aimed to provide teachers with the necessary tools and resources to implement STEAM education effectively and foster a collaborative learning environment. Additionally, we recognised the importance of preparing students for future challenges by equipping them with critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The project addressed teachers' need for continuous professional development, enabling them to stay updated with the latest educational trends and technologies. By creating a network of international learning communities, we aimed to facilitate the exchange of best practices and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation in education.
