The main aim is to promote the professional development of teachers and administrators, resulting in benefits for both the students and the educational institution. This will enhance the effectiveness of teaching and the achievements of students in diagnostic work and centralized exams. The main accomplishments of an educational institution are the academic success of its students. However, to improve student outcomes, it is crucial to ensure the professional development of staff. In the ever-changing process of education, it is important for teachers to acquire the latest teaching trends, methods, and approaches to integrate them into their daily work with students. On the other hand, professional development for administration will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the educational organization, the transfer of best practices, and the successful integration within the institution. The implementation of the new educational standards poses challenges not only for teachers but also for students. Therefore, the project provided an opportunity to acquire innovative approaches, methods, and best practices to be integrated into the daily work of LMMDV.
The Art Education Competence Center "Liepaja Music, Art and Design Secondary School" (hereinafter referred to as LMMDV) is a vocational secondary education institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia. It offers 8 vocational secondary modular education programs in the field of art and design, and 9 vocational secondary education programs in music. LMMDV also implements general secondary education content, which is equally important to the institution's activities, just like the vocational field. This projects aim is the professional development of general secondary education teachers and administration in order to promote excellence in students, improve academic achievements in centralized exams, and enhance competitiveness for transition to higher education in Latvia and Europe. The goal of LMMDV is to develop teachers' abilities and skills to develop appropriate teaching materials and refine methodology according to the new educational standards. The project also involves internationalization and interdisciplinary subjects, which will allow for more compact and easily manageable study programs with reduced hours of general education subjects.
