Objectives

The aim of the project was to participate in the creation of the newly established Tukums Rainis State Gymnasium organizational culture, stimulating the positive development of the school's microclimate, promoting socially responsible and respectful cooperation of both teachers and students. In order for teachers and students from both schools to be able to cooperate successfully and respectfully in their own groups, they need to improve skills such as communication, emotional intelligence, tolerant and respectful behaviour towards the diversity of people, conflict resolution skills, confidence, composure and stress management.

Background

During school year 2021/2022 Tukums Rainis Gymnasium was merged with Tukums Elementary school No. 2. In addition, the gymnasium acquired the status of a state gymnasium, which is a significant achievement but also requires additional responsibility in daily work. The new school has 67 teachers and 701 students. The biggest challenge of this school year 2022/2023 for the management team of Tukums Rainis State Gymnasium is to create positive organizational culture of the combined school - the microclimate, vision, values and traditions of the school, combining the collectives of teachers, students and technical staff of both schools. Organizational culture is one of the psychological factors that determine the motivation, cognitive activity, level of achievement, emotional mood of students and teachers, as well as trust in the specific educational institution. Organizational microclimate is characterized by group cohesion, avoidance of conflicts and people's ability to cooperate.
