Objectives

The aim of the Viduskurzeme primary school development centre's project was to give the possibility to young people with special needs to acquire quality vocational education after graduating from grade 9, taking into account their needs, abilities, previous experience and state of health. Vocational training for young people with special needs helps solve a number of problems: employment, poverty, and social exclusion. Young people with special needs need the regular acquisition of additional knowledge and skills, complemented by the development of social skills - contact, mutual contact skills, ability to assume responsibility, and ability to work in a team to be acquired in full participation of the educational process. The challenge for the educational institution is to provide personalised support to realise the potential of young people and to plan and advance professional development. The educational institution ensures the supply of modern, high-quality, diverse education, takes into account labour market trends and offers opportunities for internships in different environments and organisations.
