Objectives

Nowadays, a successful employee is not only a person with theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, good communication skills (including communication in a foreign language). We wanted students to get to know and work in practice with the latest and most modern devices, equipment, and communication in a foreign language to make them feel self-sufficient. The project could be successfully implemented in partnership with partners whose material base and technical capabilities would allow project participants to achieve the objectives and objectives pursued. Improving professional skills for students from vulnerable groups would improve their practical skills with everything new and boost their self-confidence and motivation. The lack of motivation and self-assurance creates complex and, sometimes, creates a sense of fear for students to express their opinions. The target could be achieved, but this project was not implemented, mainly for COVID reasons and for partner precautions.

Background

The objective -is inclusion in high school of more vulnerable students stemming from socially or economically less advantaged background or those having learning difficulties. In many cases, they lack both motivation and confidence for learning. They often feel inhibited by the group leaders, more knowledgeable or well-off persons. The students feel discomfort to be in a class, they lose interest in studying and become absent students. The challenge is to involve these students and help them develop their practical skills. Often these students are successful with practical work, even if their academic achievements are less than desired. In addition, a focus should be on helping them feel valuable. Many students with high academic achievements lack practical skills. That is why RTU OTK has set a target within the ERASMUS+ project to include students from vulnerable groups, to give them chances, to find and sustain their learning motivation and help develop and display their practical skills.
