Young Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and + (all other gender and sexuality identities) youth have been affected enormously in different areas of life (socio-economic, health, legal rights, and more) from the COVID-19 pandemic, while they continue to be daily exposed to hate speech, stereotypes, phobias (homophobia, transphobia, biphobia), bullying, hate crimes, violence, and harassment in their social environments (online & offline). Some of the observed negative impacts include: - mental health: The majority of lgbt+ youth exhibit increased symptoms of depression, anxiety, and/or both. Trans and non-binary youth are more likely to express suicidal thoughts. - Living freely and safely: For many, it has become harder to express their LGBT+ identity, especially around their family, teachers/professors in online classes or colleagues at their jobs. And many who are still living in the closet had to go back and live with their families and abusive parents, experiencing verbal and non-verbal abuse and/or violence. - Activism - a big part of the youth has become uninterested and demotivated to participate actively and engage with their peers in their local environments, being trapped in a survival mindset instead. Activists Assemble aims to assemble LGBT+ and allies youth, in a shared safe, and brave space that encourages dialogue and participation, where they can explore and experience different forms of activism, focusing on the form of community building, and empowering them back to social participation amidst the pandemic. Participants will be able to exchange on current LGBT+ related issues that affect their daily lives, understand the form of activism that fits them the best, and become inspired by themselves and their peers. Activists Assemble Objectives were: - To involve directly 25 young LGBTQIA+ and allies people, youth with fewer opportunities in the project. - To promote peer learning and exchange different types of activism (community building, grassroots, street actions, digital, non-formal learning, artivism) and boost participants' active participatory attitude in their lives and in society. - To increase participants' 8-key competencies for life-long learning, with-for-by promoting Youthpass and lift their self-confidence and growth during all phases, empowering their self-awareness, acceptance, and sense of belonging in a community. - To organize a collaborative local action with smaller street actions in Latvia (YE) and at least 10 local actions (2 per partner country) during the follow-up phase. - To organize a pan-European Online Youth Event, sharing project results and mainly amplifying the young voices and their critical role in building inclusive societies. - To continue promoting the Erasmus+ program and non-formal learning as a beneficial tool for activism and social change
