Objectives

By implementing this project we aimed at achieving the following objectives: 1. Capacitating our teaching staff through international mobility and exchange of good practices to work with pupils with learning difficulties and use ICT tools in their work. 2. Inclusion of pupils who face barriers due to intellectual impairments and are struggling to perform in the education system, which may lead to discrimination and exclusion or negative behaviors. Our goal was to meet with new innovative methodologies for work with pupils with learning difficulties, make better use of ICT tools and digital platforms to improve our educational model and contribute to our European educational plan.

Background

A priority of our Law on Primary Education is the inclusion of all students. If we compare education policies for pupils with learning difficulties in developed countries, we will see that many normative solutions are identical or very similar to ours. North Macedonia is a signatory of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and many other documents and conventions about the rights of children with special educational needs. While noticeable efforts are devoted to it, clearly there is a limited understanding of the way in which issues of learning difficulties are tackled. We still favour the medical over the social model. Instead of a state demanding only treatment, we need to look at learning difficulties as a challenge which when overcome will result in full equal inclusion of all pupils in education and in life. The new age requires the integration of ICT and digital tools in the classroom and this can make a significant impact on the inclusion of pupils with learning difficulties
