Inclusive education is currently the top issue in Republic of North Macedonia, given the current reforms in education, which provide for the total inclusion of persons with disabilities in regular education. We fiercened that In the forthcoming period, intensive trainings of the entire teaching staff will be necessary, for proper acceptance of students with disabilities and successful realization of the planned teaching activities. We had a plan that after this project our staff will continue to participate in similar projects that will bring only the benefit of our students. In the long run, the effects of exchanging experiences is crucial. We saw an opportunity with this professional development training to see for ourselves and to transfer part of that experience to our school, as well as to the schools in our municipality, by disseminating the training itself. The purpose of this training was to include students with disabilities in mainstream educational. processes. This definition has recently been extended to include all disadvantaged groups in society.
When preparing our Professional development plan we encountered high percentage of responses that our staff has a lack of training about inclusion and diversity issue. Our school is multicultural and from this year by Law has to accept students with special needs into regular classes. Our teachers feel frightened by the idea and not well prepared. This is the main reason why we decided that we need this type of activity. Also we are aware of the fact that in the premises of our school we were about to have the Regional Centar for support of these children opened and bear the burden to help the community and all the neighboring municipalities to cope with this new strategy. We were happy to see that An Inclusion and Diversity Strategy has been developed by the Erasmus+ to support organisations to better reach out to more participants with fewer opportunities and help addressing the barriers that different target groups may face. Inclusive education is currently being implemented in Republic North Macedonia and our staff has to be pioneer in the field of mainstream education.
