Objectives

This project focused on raising awareness about oral health for young people between the ages of 18-25 have a profound impact on individual well-being, public health, and the overall healthcare system. This age group represents a critical demographic that is often overlooked in oral health campaigns, but they are at a stage in life where the decisions they make regarding oral hygiene can have long-term consequences. In this comprehensive overview, We will outline the goals of the project. Goal 1: Improved Oral Health Literacy One of the primary objectives of our project like this is to enhance the oral health literacy of young adults aged 18-25. This age group is typically transitioning into adulthood and making their own healthcare decisions. By providing them with comprehensive information about oral health, including the importance of regular dental check-ups, proper brushing and flossing techniques, and dietary choices that impact oral health, we empower them to make informed choices about their own well-being. By improving oral health literacy, we can reduce the incidence of preventable oral health issues in this age group, such as cavities, gum disease, and bad oral hygiene habits. This leads to better overall oral health for young people and less strain on the healthcare system. Goal 2: Prevention of Oral Health Issues Prevention is always more effective and less costly than treatment, especially in oral health. A key objective of the project is to teach young adults how to prevent common oral health problems. By promoting good oral hygiene practices, reducing sugar consumption, and discouraging tobacco use, we can significantly decrease the incidence of issues like dental caries and periodontal disease. Fewer young adults would suffer from tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health problems. This not only improves the quality of life for these individuals but also reduces the burden on healthcare resources and decreases the need for expensive dental treatments. Goal 3: Promoting Regular Dental Check-ups Encouraging young adults to establish a routine of regular dental check-ups is a fundamental goal of this project. Regular dental visits can help detect and address oral health issues early, before they escalate into more severe problems. Young adults often neglect these visits due to a lack of awareness or dental anxiety. Increased awareness about the importance of regular dental check-ups could lead to more young adults seeking preventive care, resulting in the early diagnosis and treatment of oral health issues. This, in turn, reduces the cost and burden on the healthcare system. Goal 4: Addressing the Impact of Diet and Lifestyle This project also focused on educating young adults about the connection between their diet, lifestyle choices, and oral health. A diet high in sugary foods and beverages, along with habits like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, can significantly impact oral health. Raising awareness about these connections can lead to healthier dietary choices and lifestyle changes. By promoting healthier dietary and lifestyle choices, we can reduce the incidence of oral health issues associated with poor nutrition and harmful habits, such as tooth decay and gum disease. Goal 5: Reducing the Financial Burden on Individuals and Healthcare Systems One of the overarching goals of this project is to alleviate the financial burden on both individuals and healthcare systems. Poor oral health can lead to high treatment costs, which can be especially burdensome for young adults who may not have comprehensive dental insurance. By preventing oral health issues, promoting early intervention, and encouraging healthier habits, we can significantly reduce the financial costs associated with oral healthcare for both individuals and the healthcare system. This can lead to improved overall healthcare sustainability and affordability. Goal 6: Fostering a Lifelong Commitment to Oral Health In addition to addressing the immediate concerns of young adults, this project also aimed to instill a lifelong commitment to oral health. Teaching young adults the importance of oral hygiene and regular dental care will benefit them throughout their lives, ensuring that they continue to prioritize their oral health as they age. A lifelong commitment to oral health leads to better quality of life and lower healthcare costs for individuals. Moreover, it helps maintain a healthier population overall, reducing the burden on healthcare systems as older adults maintain good oral health practices. In conclusion, this project aimed at raising awareness about oral health for young people between the ages of 18-25 can achieve a multitude of goals that benefit individuals, the healthcare system, and society as a whole.
