Objectives

The aim of this project is to ensure that teachers, through continuing education, increase their knowledge and didactic skills within their fields of expertise, try out new teaching methods and are better able to use ICT resources. This increases the self-responsibility and motivation of the students. In addition, we work with notebooks throughout the school and each room has a smartboard. It is therefore important for all teachers to improve their ICT skills and to learn new things about this. By consulting colleagues from other countries, other teaching methods can also be created, which stimulate the students' independence and motivation. We also want to keep abreast of other education systems and see which parts we can implement in our system. Language teachers in the country want to continue training in the target language so that they can maintain their once achieved level. It is important for teachers who are also in the school management that they learn from other colleagues so that the horizon is broadened, work can be done more cross-curricular and that you do not have to reinvent the wheel every time or step into the same pit but work together.

Background

The Mencia de Mendoza Lyceum is a Global Citizen School, we have a well-running TTO-Havo and TTO-Ath/gym. Department and we also have a connection with our neighbours, the International School Breda (ISB). Our profile is internationalization and we think it is important that our students, both the regular Dutch stream and the TTO stream, cross their borders in all kinds of ways, and we ask our teachers to lead by example. As a school, we encourage teachers to deepen and expand their knowledge and insights abroad. They bring their acquired knowledge and insights back to the school so that an oil slick effect is created. Pupils, colleagues, trainees and trainers can benefit from this, such as new knowledge, variety of teaching methods and use of ICT. This makes everyone more motivated in the educational process and they have more self-confidence.
