Internationalization has been on HAN's strategic agenda for years. One, by embedding it in the curriculum so that all students develop international competencies. Second, by giving students and lecturers an extra opportunity to spend time abroad. The focus of our annual Erasmus+ application is therefore to encourage and facilitate mobility. The possibilities within the new Erasmus+ framework such as conducting BIPs and allocating funds for inclusion are new, but a good addition to the existing possibilities. HAN has already experimented with these, the experiences are very good. This application was submitted in February 2021, a year after Covid-19 first broke out. As HAN, we deliberately applied for far fewer funds because we wanted to use the 2020 budget as far as possible. We were successful in doing that. Moreover, it was difficult for us to make a careful estimate of the expected number of mobilities. After all, at the time of application, there were worldwide entry bans, online classes and many rules from HAN itself. For example, the first semester of 2021 HAN did not allow travelling to other countries and institutions. For this reason, HAN has been very cautious in applying for a large Erasmus budget.
