A main objective in the University of Amsterdam's (UvA) Internationalisation strategy is to equip each student for a successful career in an ever-evolving global society and job market. Erasmus+ mobility provides our students with an optimal start to their professional journey with international and intercultural competencies, along with exposure to international academic or work environments. The UvA believes that experiencing other cultures and academic settings prepares students to actively contribute as global citizens. Additionally, hosting international (exchange) students at our UvA campuses enriches the diversity of our university and contributes to an internationalised learning environment. The grant application in early 2021 was complicated, with much budget left from Call 2020 and on the other hand several novelties ahead, of which the financial consequences were very unpredictable. For these reasons the UvA made an application for only one-third of the number of mobilities compared to the previous call. While most exchanges and traineeships in the academic year 2021-2022 were still funded under Call 2020, there was time to prepare and implement the new components, for -at first- a limited group of students.
