The main goal of this project is to develop a European teaching and training module for social and health care students to improve their basic knowledge, skills and competence in supporting peoples empowerment in different ages. The final result will be: - a teaching and training module for seven different target group of four hours (theory and practical lessons) - a train the trainer short course for teachers to be trained on working with the materials First train all partners in the concept of Positive Health. Together we wanted to develop short trainings that can be used all over Europe so students, future workers can understand the importance of working through this innovative concept. By using the materials student learn the techniques in interviewing people in need of care and improve their competences to support people in different ages and client groups. The project is based on Positive Health six pillars for Positive Health. Those items give the study program a clear scientific base. The materials needed to be easy to work with for students all over Europe. Teachers play a crucial role, we wanted to develop a special introduction for them, they are the role models.

Background

In Social and Health Care there is a new vision in how to help patients/ clients. From being dependant to keeping control of your own life, as much as possible. The ageing of Europe’s population is a challenge for the 21st Century. Today, the life expectancy in Europe is more than 80 years. Enabling elderly people to live longer and independently in their own homes is one goal for society as a whole. Positive Health is dynamic concept of health (euPREVENT Congress 2017). In this new definition Health is seen as the ability to adapt and to self manage, in the face of social, physical and emotional challenges. Important for elderly, but also for other people in need of care, people with a disability, youngster in ca In our TPM's we will focus on 7 different target groups. The aim is to train students in a new way of thinking. And also staff in institutions, they often think in a concept off peoples illness instead of their strengths. To approach health as is done in Positive Health gives us a new and dynamic way to put a patient/ client in charge of their health situation. Students, future workers are trained to look in a different way to their clients needs, to empower instead of institutionalise. Starting from a young age.
