The Erasmus+ project “The Power Behind the Gender” (PBG) aimed to help participating young people to “release the power behind the gender”. Through implemented project we promoted a healthy relationship in young people with their gender through the development of competencies to understand oneself and others, as well as through raising awareness and develop the ability to navigate the often contradictory narrative on gender-related issues today. To reach the project aim following objectives were fulfilled through the active participation of 30 participants from Curacao, Georgia and Portugal: (a) Participants reflected upon the concept of gender, defined gender equality, and contextualised it within the national, European, and global perspectives; (b) The project encouraged young people to challenge the existing gender-based stereotypes, confronting them with positive examples; (c) The project raised their awareness about the importance of leadership and taking initiatives within their communities; (d) It encouraged young people to interact and create international network on the gender issues; (e) Project promoted among participants the EU gender equality initiatives, Erasmus Plus, Lifelong Learning, Youthpass, Volunteering/studying opportunities for boosting the young people's potential (f) It promoted young people’s active citizenship in general and European citizenship in particular.
