Objectives

We wanted our students from Dahlske to see how it is to live the French way of life. They got to live in local host families and spend time with their host also at school. The mobility gave them an opportunity to see how French live their everyday life, to practice the two foreign languages they learn at school (French and English) and learn about the French culture, history and society in general. In addition, a group mobility is an opportunity for each student to develop on a personal level.

Background

Dahlske is an upper secondary school in the university city of Grimstad in Southern Norway. Norwegian is our official language. Our pupils in general studies have to, in addition to English, learn a second foreign language: French, Spanish or German. Dahlske has a focus on internationalisation. We hope that through organizing such a group mobility we can motivate our pupils to increase their language skills, learn about the French culture and build friendship across borders. Norway and France are two culturally different countries. Our group mobility project has made it possible for a group of French and Norwegian pupils to get to know each other on a personal level through this project.
