Objectives

We wanted to re-run a complete a full project involving both schools after having to partly cancel our previous one. We also hope to make the related studies more popular among young people. We also wanted the project to contribute to the motivation and social relations in the classes involved. We want to get to know the other school for considering a long term cooperation on similar projects.

Background

We wanted to give the pupils an insight into Norwegian and German music culture respectively, both traditional and modern. Music is a common language, and playing music together is a good way of creating relations and mutual understanding between our two countries. We also hope to make the related studies and subjects more popular among young people. The schools have an intention of making more transnational projects, and were searching for schools for long-term cooperation. In Norway many young people quit school before they are finished. This project contributes to reducing the dropout rate of our school and the music department.
