NGOs, Associations, Social enterprises can play a key role in supporting the green transition and shaping Europe’s digital future. It is therefore crucial to educate them about the opportunities offered by the green economic transition as well as to strengthen their digital skills. By implementing the DIGITECH project we aimed a achieving 4 specific objectives: 1. Building the capacity of organisations and training providers to develop, conduct, and evaluate climate-focused projects. 2. Improving the competences of educators and other adult education staff by connecting them with apps and other technologies they can use to measure their carbon emissions in their future activities. 3. Reinforcing NGOs, associations, social enterprises' skills and ability to better communicate the climate impact of their economic activity. 4. Developing new software and applications for measuring the carbon footprint of projects and organisations which can be used in other contexts.
On a European level, sustainability and climate protection will be at the heart of many stimulus packages that will support the green transition. However, many organisations and their staff members still struggle in understanding and managing the changes that are already happening. In this scenario, an upskilling of the NGOs, Associations and Social enterprises' staff seems crucial not only for their own organisation but also for the support they can provide to other key stakeholders. DIGITECH aims to be both a catalyst of collaboration between NGOs, Associations, Social enterprises and entrepreneurs as well as a knowledge broker between the two communities. NGOs, Associations, Social enterprises and their staff are increasingly voicing their concerns for the state of the environment and their wish for more tools and digital solutions they can use for making a concrete and measurable impact. DIGITECH wants to foster projects enabling them to act locally for climate action, by building the capacity of organisations and training providers to develop, conduct, and evaluate climate-focused projects in partnership with the business sector.
