Objectives

The VOW project had two main objectives: 1. Promoting Awareness of Women’s Musical Works: This involved familiarizing higher education students, music and art audiences, and the general public with compositions by women. Through institution-wide efforts, including the performance, analysis, research, and dissemination of the VOW repertory, the project aimed to foster inclusivity and recognize all voices as equal contributors to the artistic canon. 2. Creating a VOW Network and Roadmap: The project established an international "Voices of Women" network, anchored by participating higher education staff and students who acted as “agents of change” to expand the network across disciplines and countries. A "Roadmap for the Promotion of Voices of Women" was created to document the project's activities, provide guidance for future actions in the form of recommendations for practitioners and policy-makers, and to ensure the network's sustainability beyond the Erasmus+ project.

Background

Voices of Women (VOW) provided innovative higher education actions at the nexus of several central European tendencies and aims, as well as reinforced interaction between the consortium’s practice, research and EU policy. VOW enabled the consortium’s initiatives to contextualize inclusiveness, cross-country training and civic engagement in a disciplinary field which for centuries has provided the heart of the European story: the Arts. VOW addressed the following needs: • to develop, implement and assess learning outcomes related to integration of musical repertoire created by women in music training modules • to enable VOW researchers’ development and contribution to innovation in our institutions, and strengthen ties between those institutions. • to provide arts training for higher education in which art-making is enmeshed in social realities. • to better understand practices, policies and systems in education and training across countries in our field • to provide increased motivation and satisfaction in daily work of VOW researchers/artists. • to develop more attractive, innovative education and training programs, including new approaches. • to transnational cooperation and establish a VOW network.
