Objectives

In the previous years, we faced post-truth and fake news in the core centers of our lives. As it’s well known, the whole world was in a pandemic state since the beginning of 2020 and all the governments try to fight this Covid-19 pandemic. Since the very first days of the pandemic, people spread millions of fake news about coronavirus. Also, at the beginning of the pandemics people shared some fake and/or unconfirmed videos those showed people fell and died because of coronavirus or some videos those showed how Chinese policemen killed Covid-19 patients by using crossfire. Of course almost all those videos and news were obviously fake or unconfirmed but millions of people believed and still believe in them. As a result of them, millions of people refused to wear masks and be vaccinated even though a proto-vaccine for Covid-19 is developed. The reason we aimed to implement this YE was that fake news distorted the reality and the truth. As a result of this, any fixable challenges of EU become un-fixed. Infodemic is compound of “information” and “epidemic” that typically refers to a rapid and far-reaching spread of both accurate and inaccurate information about something, such as a disease. As facts, rumors, and fears mix and disperse, it becomes difficult to learn essential information about an issue. Moreover, we firmly believe in that fake news is a big challenge to fight and awareness of fact-checking will be the main weapon for this battle. That’s why, we wanted to achieve creating awareness of media literacy and fact-checking behaviors in our participants as taking the word “infodemic” in our focus. The objectives of our project were to: - promote critical thinking and awareness about media literacy and fact-checking, - stop echo-chambers and radicalization, - understand how media/social media have effects on young people and our societies, - stop anti-health movements, - promote active participation of young people by using media/social media, - develop a critical approach towards media messages based on youth’s experiences, skills, beliefs, and values, - develop youth’s skills in creating media content and creating videos regarding fact-checking, - offer the opportunity to meet partner groups and develop concrete ideas for future projects focusing on cultural diversity and active participation of young people in order to prevent radicalization of young people, - support young people to increase their knowledge about Erasmus+ Program and youth exchange projects in order to develop new projects in the future, - create professional videos and use social media actively in order to reach as many as people for outcomes of our project and for the visibility of Erasmus+ Program.
