Objectives

In this Youth Exchange we tried to create an awareness of the challenges those persons with disabilities face and to promote the consciousness for social incorporation of them in social life. By doing this, we aimed to focus on the terms of “equality vs. equity”. Despite so many promoting projects implemented, today we see that equality by itself isn’t enough for people. It is clear that a person with a disability has much more disadvantages and obstacles than a person without. For sustainable human rights in the society, NGOs began to draw attention of the governments to “equality vs. inequity” of people. In order to build a fairly strong society of human rights, both local and central governments should close the gap among citizens in terms of economic and human right policies. We aimed to make a contribution to this field by implementing our exchange. Moreover, we wanted to promote the results of European Disability Strategy for 2010-2020. We want to promote and disseminate the results of our project as much as possible because we want to make the issue (Disability: Equality and Equity) much more visible in our local societies. This issue has a pressure our societies and it must be solved somehow. So, we believe we can help solving this issue by more dissemination and making new young people aware. In this manner, local authorities will be more aware of importance of taking new actions for the persons with disability in their locals. Thus, the continuous effect of our project will be last long. Briefly, by implementing this YE we aimed to: - Learn/discuss different definitions of being “disable” and to raise positive awareness on disability and human rights, active participation in democratic life and the priorities of the EU and the Council of Europe, - Analyze past and current situation and reflect on the future of persons with disabilities in our societies and EU, - Increase the understanding about bullying issues and how it affects people (of all races, ethnicities, religions, and gender), - Learn combating against discrimination, intellectual-cultural-social stereotypes and pre judgements towards persons with disabilities, - Discuss about social and physical barriers in societies and find new ways to “barrier-free” for disable people, - Promote active participation of young people in international youth projects through cultural dialog between youngsters from different countries based on their own experiences, skills, beliefs, and values, - Support young people to increase their knowledge about Erasmus+ Program and youth exchange projects in order to develop new projects (related to awareness of disabilities) in the future, - Create videos (we will have experienced participants) and use social media very actively in order to reach as many as people possible for outcomes of our project and for the visibility of Erasmus+ Program.
