Background

EDUSYSTEM z o.o. runs a language school in Poznań, under the brand name KONTAKT Centrum Języków Obcych. It organizes language courses for adults (stationary and online), language exams, and classes on cultural diversity. The school teaches adult learners who have completed their formal education and need foreign language skills for work, travel or other passions. Thanks to the cooperation with the City Hall, among the students there are also people with fewer educational opportunities: the unemployed, senior citizens, immigrants and refugees. They receive free education thanks to aid projects. Students taking online classes include also adults living in small towns and rural areas and Poles living abroad. During the pandemic, when courses needed to be held online, the school staff provided technical support to students. Despite this, some of them discontinued the course. They lacked digital skills, technical requirements and also feared for their cyber-safety during online activities. To change this situation, the school's staff was to be prepared to work with people with low digital skills and to train students with lower educational opportunities in basic digital skills.
