Objectives

The aim of the project was to improve the situation in previously diagnosed topics relevant to the functioning of the foundation. The aim of the project was to improve the competence level of community organizers in transferring knowledge and skills in the area of OS and social inclusion. It also aimed to increase the involvement of residents through more effective community organizers. The third goal they wanted to achieve was to spread knowledge in the area of working with the OS method throughout Poland and the Silesian province. The fourth goal was for the foundation to develop and consolidate international relations.

Background

The Coomon Thing Foundation is a foundation established in 2015 and based in Katowice, Poland. The main goal of FRS is to support democracy and the development of civil society, by supporting grassroots initiatives and groups of residents who want to act for the benefit of their communities and surroundings. It pursues this goal through participatory tools: social campaigns, community organizing and civic education. The main method of FRS's work is community organizing (OS). It involves supporting residents in activities to improve the quality of life in their community. One of the foundation's main goals is to develop the method of community organizing and promote it nationally. The context of the project is the conclusion that there is practically nowhere to get know-how about this method from. Therefore, the foundation decided to seek support from experienced organizations from abroad. We want to increase the knowledge and skills of the method in order to integrate it into the long-term strategy of the Foundation's activities.
