Objectives

We set three goals: MINDFULNESS AS A HABIT OF TAKING CARE OF MENTAL HEALTH understood as counteracting the negative, psychological effects of the pandemic through the practice of mindfulness, i.e. acquiring the ability to notice and observe thoughts and emotions without judging them, which results in reducing the perceived stress; STRENGTHENING THE ROLE OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN EDUCATION by providing teachers with ways to activate students through new digital working methods, as well as teaching them the principles of proper online behavior and selection of information, as well as counteracting digital exclusion; STRENGTHENING THE ROLE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES by enabling teachers to use foreign languages more efficiently support foreign students and work with pupils in international projects, including eTwinning, as well as implement pedagogical innovations using English in subject lessons and in early childhood education (CLIL). We also wanted to increase inclusion in our school community and help students and teachers rebuild positive relationships with others.

Background

We are a highly specialized institution in the field of sports education. Students choose our school because of the possibility of pursuing their sports passion at a professional level. The project was a response to the diagnosed needs of our school community, related to the return of students to stationary learning after the end of the lockdown. Due to the long-term exposure of students and teachers to stress and the emerging difficulties in establishing peer relationships in the real world, after a year of living in isolation, we looked for ways to reintegrate our community, as well as rebuild the psychological well-being of students and teachers. We also noticed the need to educate teachers at ICT courses in order to improve their competences in this area and change the IT training of young people so that it is practical and prepares them to work in the new, virtual reality. We wanted not only to promote effective and interesting applications and tools for students, but also to build digital responsibility and ensure students' safety online. We also wanted to improve the knowledge of foreign languages among teachers.
