Objectives

The aim of the project was teachers’ gaining new competences and experience, which would improve the quality of teaching particular subjects as well as supporting students in mental, emotional and social spheres. The second aim was to increase motivation and prevent from professional burnout as well as improve teaching skills via learning new innovative working methods and using them in everyday practice. Pandemic time was a great challenge for the whole educational environment which had to adapt to new working conditions rapidly. In our school teachers were working with the use of new technologies (application Classroom) but they differ as regards levels and skills to use new possibilities. While accomplishing the project we wanted to see on-line teaching methods in other countries. Another aim was learning Spanish as our students have been participating in vocational trainings in Spain for several years so we decided that it would help if the teachers accompanying them knew the basics of Spanish language. While learning Spanish teachers had the opportunity to „become students” in on-line education and thanks to it they could see the other side of the process.

Background

Zespol Szkol Mechaniczno-Elektrycznych in Rybnik is a school of long-standing tradition, within which a technical college and basic vocational school work. For seven years, ZSM-E has been carrying out Erasmus+ student mobility projects concerning education and vocational trainings. Our students willingly take part in traineeships in Spain so not only we made very good contacts with Spanish firms but also the teachers – counsellors have met teachers of local schools several times. After the return to stationary learning, we noticed serious problems in students’ functioning st school, many of them were articulating the will to return to on-line learning, adjustment disorders as well as strongly disturbed interpersonal relations were noticeable. Within the project, we wanted to talk and exchange the experience concerning current issues not only as educators but also carers.
