Primary School No. 9 in Białystok is a medium-sized institution, which was established as a result of transformation from a junior high school. This had a significant impact on its functioning, structure and needs. Due to the geographical location of the city as well as the several years of development of the institution, the students are Ukrainians and Belarusians. Their number usually changes during the school year, but it is noticed that there are still more children for whom Polish is a foreign language. In addition, Polish children who started their education abroad study at the school. Students come from diverse social backgrounds. About 50% come from broken families, 10% are children from families at risk of exclusion related to a difficult family situation, and about 10% of children have opinions about adapting the requirements to specific learning difficulties. The project we implemented was aimed at equipping us with the skills necessary to ensure effective teaching and upbringing of our students after a period of isolation - pandemic - with an emphasis on working with students with special educational needs, the use of modern methods in education, critical thinking and creativity.
