Recognition, transparency, certificationTeaching and learning of foreign languagesThe project is focusing on work-based learning and its implementation in the specific sector

Objectives

Participants of the project, during their internships abroad, naturally communicated in foreign languages (English and Italian) at work on a daily basis, which - combined with language preparation before departure - resulted in an increase in their language skills. Also, their professional qualifications have expanded with elements that were previously poorly known or unknown to them - due to the internships in Italy, where different customs, needs and cultural differences translate into the organization style and methods of work, and the implemented new technologies. In accordance with the assumptions of our project, the majority of its participants were people from disadvantaged rural areas, students with fewer opportunities. In their case, internships abroad, in a country with a high work culture, had a major impact on their qualifications and overall school performance.

Background

The school was established in 1948 as a secondary vocational school of commerce and administration, with 29 students. After many transformations, in 1977 the Complex of Vocational Schools was established. Students can currently study in two types of schools: a technical school and a 1st degree trade school. In recent years, the school has obtained a lot of funds from EU programs. The project discussed here, implemented in the vocational education and training sector, involved students from a technical school and a trade school. In the project, we implemented short-term educational mobility of our students in the form of a professional internship. The internships lasted 3 weeks, the participants took them in Italy. Participants, after prior language, cultural and pedagogical preparation, went on internships together with their tutors, who were their school teachers. During the internships, prepared in cooperation with a partner organization from Italy, continuous evaluation and monitoring of their progress was carried out, and the participation of participants was assessed by Italian employers and confirmed by internship certificates issued by the Italian partner and Europass Mobility documents.
