Objectives

The main goal of our project was to understand the diversity of countries' environmental challenges, as well as to deepen our knowledge of the environmental narrative created by European countries. Therefore, we created a project with countries representing different geographical areas of Europe (i.e. East - Poland, West - Spain, North - Finland, South - Romania). As a result, we were able to meet specific objectives, corresponding to what we had diagnosed as needs before the project started: (1) the development of competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) of participants and other target groups in the 5 areas we identified, which were (1) air quality, (2) fast fashion, (3) consumer habits, (4) consumption of single-use plastic and (5) organic farming. This was achieved through the implementation of the "national quiz" and "group workshop" components, through which we not only increased our level of knowledge in the 5 areas mentioned above, but also learned about the specific needs and challenges of each of the exchange countries; (2) learning about effective environmental policies and good practices, both national and pan-European. We achieved this objective through discussions held each day after the block. This part culminated in an analysis of effective solutions proposed by the European Union in the field of ecology; (3) Practical application of knowledge in the area of self-creation of ecological objects and products was realised during thematic blocks, which we referred to as "handicraft". During these sessions we created: (1) ecological furniture - a zone for the local community, (2) reusable bags, (3) ecological cosmetics and (4) tie-dye clothes; Additionally, we visited a local farm where we looked at the process of making organic regional cheeses. (4) Moving away from digital reality, to being and acting taking place 'here and now'. We achieved this goal by delivering an intensive, engaging programme, encouraging participants to engage in experiencing the educational process rather than functioning in a digital reality. In addition, we organised a festival for the local community, during which we shared the knowledge we had gained about environmental issues with the participants and invited guests to participate in the co-creation of eco-friendly reusable products. Upon completion of the project, we created an extensive social media account that not only reported on our project and the activities undertaken during it, but also provides a practical guide for our audience of female and male members of our community on the ins and outs of creating reusable products using recycled materials.
