Objectives

The project “Healthy life via sport” was created by using formal and non formal education methods due to its great outcome on youth’s learning journeys. Youth exchange was implemented in Dilijan, Armenia in April 2022. We decided to choose this country because still many young people from EU based on the stories are afraid to go to that region and they do not want to cooperate with it. Taking into consideration such perceptions of others due to organizing the project in Armenia, we brought people from other countries there, and verified their opinions and stereotypes with reality. The project duration was eight days and participants did indoor and outdoor activities. In the beginning, the project included 30 youngsters from 5 countries: Armenia, Poland, Georgia, Romania and Bulgaria. Unfortunately, as the project was going, we started to have some problems with an organisation form North Macedonia and this NGO with connection of National Agency of Poland was no longer in the project. More detailed information will be provided in the question about difficulties. Before the idea of the topic for the project, “Uniting bridge” NGO from Armenia and the “Level UP” NGO from Poland met together and discussed what they have in common and what problems youngsters have these days. We wanted to have solutions to motivate and encourage youth to have healthy lifestyle and explain to them that it is worth it.That’s why this project gathered partners with similar problems in their countries and these NGOs have also pointed out the issue that most of the youngsters are not engaged in sport and healthy lifestyle. With 5 different cultures, this gave space to youth to communicate, left distractions, and created a friendly atmosphere to focus on developing long-lasting relationships and understanding through the informal and nonformal educational methods that were implemented including discussions circles, art and games. The main points we intended to achieve were to empower youth and live more healthily. The objectives of the program summarize were as follows: Promoted intercultural dialogue and broke some stereotypes that participants had previously of the different countries. Introduced youth to different nonformal and informal education methods that were used to promote dialogue, such as artistic methods, discussions, games, competitions, presentations, and others. Enhanced critical thinking and sense of initiative of the participants. Introduced participants to the different opportunities that the Erasmus+ programme offer, as well as Youth pass Strengthened the youth to the EU values. Developed cooperation and partnerships with youngsters in the field of intercultural dialogue. Improved youth’s communication skills, and created a friendly atmosphere to build long lasting friendships. Introduced others about one’s culture and traditions through dances, songs, presentations, food, and other activities. Recognised, from personal experience, the different types of sport and healthy lifestyle that people experience and reproduce in their closest environment, regardless of the origin country where they come from. Exercised and explored more about our physique as a big challenge for our own lifestyle. Got to know what yoga is and how it can help overcome many problems concerning health. Engaged with local youths and encourage them to live healthy and do sport in their daily life. Found out how to eat to feel healthy and how it can interact with our physical and mental activities. Shared their connection with sport; especially about their national and traditional lifestyle ways and sports. Lived healthy in order to have a strong and healthy mind as well as body. Got to know organisations from other countries and plan future collaborations. By being in intercultural environment: promoted the culture of equality and non-discrimination through education about values of tolerance, respect, interculturality, equality, solidarity, cooperation, inherent in any democratic society, acquiring skills and competencies among young people that help strengthen their social fabric and their value as European citizens. Know institutions and mechanisms at European and local level that intervene in case of living situations of discrimination. Acquire tools and educational resources for social intervention for participating organizations, as well as skills and knowledge needed among youth workers and young people involved to prevent, mediate, and reduce any discriminatory process in their location. Strengthen the cooperation of the participating organizations, their collaboration and sharing of experiences in their fight against discrimination on the grounds of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any differential treatment behaviour manifested in derogatory and unjustified attitudes toward an individual.
