"Liberty, equality and fraternity" - these are old but indestructible ideals. They should be respected, but unfortunately we are seeing their disorder and disrespect in European society. Due to the observed situation of slow destruction in the approach to respecting these noble ideals, we wanted to involve groups of project participants representing 3 different countries in the creation of short film productions touching on the issues of these values and the diverse perspective of participants in national contexts by from the perspective of their experiences. We carried out this tri-national project to examine the original state, the direction of development of these values, the vision of young Europeans and the roots of European culture by analyzing the differences, similarities and stereotypes that characterize European nations. By recalling the main slogans of the French Revolution as the cradle of European freedom, we undertook considerations whose initiator, creator of the project and its effect were the youth themselves. They tried to answer the question on what European cultural foundation the European identity can exist and survive, even in times of crisis, in order to develop and strengthen the idea of the European Union. The aim of the project was to exchange a creative approach to film projects and create a space for the reception of film and art by young people, as well as intercultural exchange and promotion of European values through the perspective of young Europeans. The choice of film as a means of work in the project and message was well thought out because the language of art is universal. The partners and participants of the project were selected to bring together various cultural melting pots, which enriched the project with the points of view of young people from different parts of Europe and backgrounds. Equality combined with freedom and fraternity is a fundamental value of the European Union. That is why we wanted to show that all Europeans have the right to equal treatment, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, views or religion. The European Union has been supporting equality for years, but despite progress in this field, discrimination on various grounds is still on the agenda. Thanks to the project, effective transnational and beyond communication was implemented language, which resulted in joint work and participation in an artistic activity, as well as the production of film results on these values. Discrimination is contrary to the fundamental values of the European Union and as long as it remains a real problem, we should take action in the European community until we finally solve it. The project was educational in nature, including film workshops (screenwriting, film production, editing). As NGOs, we wanted to help implement European values and act as a counterbalance because civic competences are essential to succeed in life and shape society, so we need to develop civic education based on these key values and putting more emphasis on freedom of thought, critical thinking and literacy from the media. We wanted to improve the skills acquired in informal learning environments, such as cultural, artistic, film and multimedia activities, and facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation between associations and NGOs in the preparation of specialized teaching materials. The field of activity of young people were the fields and means of film art, visual arts, and the goal was social communication in the broad sense. The goals and benefits also include broadening knowledge about the art of film and the foundations of European values, awakening passion in young people for self-expression through film and visual tools, creating opportunities for exchange and international cooperation of young people. Young people showing inexhaustible energy can confidently look into the future, which is why they were one of the pillars of building a European society and the driving force of this project. What distinguished our project from the standard ones related to film education is the creation of a new approach in the exchange of not only knowledge, but above all film practice. In our project, the participants did not work from start to finish on their project, but had a real impact on the project of another team. Therefore, at each subsequent stage, the project prepared by one team was handed over to another team in the next stage. This approach allowed young people to take responsibility throughout the project process. The aim was to promote an attitude of international cooperation, not competition. The combination of three dimensions of knowledge from partner organizations that create educational projects with young people in different ways has created an innovative dimension of modern methods of education through film. We wanted to create something that will be a lasting and useful result after the end of the project and that's what participants' films are all about.
