The project "Strong together - across the border" is an initiative of a youth group from Bulgaria, Montenegro, Estonia, Latvia and Poland, as part of which we broadened our knowledge and competences related to the implementation and evaluation of youth policy. Moreover, through our activities, we wanted to increase the involvement of young people in the local, national and European community. To achieve this, we had a dialogue with those responsible for youth policy. The main goal of our project was to create a model of an ideal community that would become an example of best practice and a place to simulate democratic experiences; while the project focuses on issues related to civil society, participatory democracy and the social position of young people. As part of the project, we have created an appropriate space for the exchange of views and opinions in this regard. We characterized the need to take up such a topic on the basis of the questionnaire research, which we carried out at the stage of preparing the application among young people (aged 18-34, n = 2450), and on the basis of our international consultations. Our activities were also in line with the objectives of the EU Dialogue with Young People, especially in the field of: - creating a platform where young people could learn about democratic processes and how to become an active leader of their community, - responding to the needs of young people in the field of reliable civic education and creating and stimulating the growth of a civic society, - encouraging young people to be more active in local matters, - creating space for mutual understanding of young people and the formation of lasting friendships, - facilitating a structured dialogue between young people and representatives of local authorities, - networking of youth organizations. In addition, the objectives of our project coincided with the assumptions of the Erasmus + program and youth participation activities, especially in the field of: - developing a structured dialogue, - exchange of experiences and influence in our local communities.
