The objectives of the DLSWC project were focused on improving digital literacy at a European level, particularly among staff and volunteers of Social Welfare Centers (SWCs) and the marginalized communities they serve. The key objectives included: 1. Facilitating the exchange of best practices between organizations active in digital literacy. 2. Developing and Implementing Digital Literacy Programs to enhance the competencies of SWC employees and volunteers in this area. 3. Identifying and strategizing around future EU funding and new opportunities to develop a European-wide standardized digital literacy program. 4. Strengthening a network of organizations active in digital literacy in the social sector and promoting their collaboration with other stakeholders like local municipalities, corporations, youth organizations, etc., to increase their impact. 5. Contributing to the development and enhancement of the digital literacy programs of each of the project partners in their respective regions. 6. In the long term, the project aimed to contribute to enhancing digital literacy thinking and practices among SWC staff and volunteers of the project partner countries.
The DLSWC project was initiated to enhance digital literacy among Social Welfare Center (SWC) staff, volunteers, and marginalized communities in Europe. It targets those involved in social services, focusing on their digital skill development. The project addresses a significant gap in digital literacy within the social sector, where resources for educational and training programs are often limited. Key motivations included fostering collaboration, exchanging best practices in digital literacy, and reducing duplicated efforts across countries. This aligns with European goals like the Digital Education Action Plan and the EU Digital Compass for 2030, emphasizing the need for digital transformation and resilience. DLSWC proposes a holistic approach to digital education, integrating effective learning methods like peer and participatory learning. It focuses on creating an educational framework that enhances lifelong learning and professional development in digital literacy for adults in social work. The project also aims to tackle the challenge of self-motivation in digital learning, offering structured, partner-guided training programs for a comprehensive digital transformation in SWCs.
