Objectives

By implementing the MC-View project, partners wanted to contribute to foster adult education and increase media literacy by promotion off critical viewing among the people with fewer opportunities (low qualified persons, unemployed youth, adults at poverty risk, etc.) and adult educators. The aims was achieved through development of: - MC-VIEW training course materials (PR1), which explore the three main areas: Media communication literacy, Critical viewing and Digital Awareness; - MC-VIEW web based personalized media literacy training canter “Individual approach to media literacy in the digital environment” (PR2).

Background

The partnership applied for this project because organisations that compose the partnership work in the adult education sector and they are very aware of changes in new media and the growing need for media education among people with fewer opportunities (low qualified persons, unemployed youth, adults at poverty risk, etc.) and adult educators. The rapid evolution of information and communication technologies, coupled with socio-demographic shifts, places heightened challenges on individuals aged 50 and above, as well as low-skilled or low-qualified adults. Unlike any previous era, these groups now face increased pressure to adapt. To navigate this changing landscape, it becomes imperative to possess a sufficient level of media literacy. This not only safeguards against digital or financial exclusion but also mitigates the risks of professional or social marginalization. The ongoing progress of media convergence, where various forms of media, telecommunications, and information technology intersect, underscores the parallel convergence of competences.
