The objectives were aligned with broader goals of inclusivity, innovation, and knowledge-sharing within the context of higher education for refugees and immigrants.

Background

The application for the DigIT project was driven by the recognition of critical challenges faced by refugees and immigrants, particularly in accessing higher education. The project aligns with key priorities of ERASMUS+ Cooperation Partnerships, focusing on digital transformation and building inclusive higher education systems. The UNHCR's Education Strategy emphasized the need to expand opportunities for refugees in post-secondary education, and the DigIT project responds to this mandate. The European Commission's Digital Education Action Plan further highlighted the importance of developing high-quality learning content and user-friendly tools. The project takes up this call to action by addressing digital readiness among Higher Education Institution (HEI) educators. Research conducted by the project will contribute to the development of digital competences and support the creation of upskilling pathways, aligning with the commitment to "no one is left behind" under the United Nations' Agenda for Sustainable Development. The project aimed to empower HEI educators, facilitate integration, and promote societal equality, aligning with international commitments and priorities.
