The objectives of this project were the following: -to develop internationalization; - to improve the quality of educational/organizational/professional practices; - to improve the personal/professional performance of learners - to promote the use of communication/work resources.

Background

The Agrupamento de Escolas de Valongo (AEV) includes six schools, four primary schools with pre-school and primary education, a lower secondary school and a secondary school with adult education. In the AEV vocational education represents 23% , covering 46% of secondary school students. The student profile is very diverse. The AEV is located in the Metropolitan Area of Porto, in an area of high population density and socioeconomic diversity. The students in VET aim to complete secondary education, in a dual-certification course. The training areas involve Computer Science, Sports, Electronics and Automation, Cooking and Pastry, Restaurant/Bar and Tourism, and these try to respond to the growing needs of the local job market. According to AEV's reference documents, VET students generally have low self-esteem, few expectations, and reduced levels of motivation. The influence area of the AEV extends beyond the borders of the municipality, especially in these courses.
