Objectives

The primary objective of BUILD2050 is to enhance the construction, renovation, and operation of sustainable and healthy buildings across Europe. Specific objectives include: 1. Developing interdisciplinary skills through eight integrated courses targeting students and professionals. 2. Establishing a European network of stakeholders, including entrepreneurs, researchers, and municipalities, to share innovative knowledge. 3. Creating an online platform to facilitate knowledge exchange and store training resources. 4. Promoting new educational methodologies through the development of a European Guide on Advanced Training for sustainable construction.

Background

The BUILD2050 project was initiated in response to the pressing need for decarbonization in the European construction sector. Buildings play a crucial role in achieving the EU’s 2050 goal of a carbon-neutral economy. This requires a holistic approach that integrates sustainability, circular economy methodologies, and regional climatic adaptations. There is a need for innovative training programs that equip professionals with interdisciplinary knowledge in sustainable construction. Additionally, modern construction must prioritize not only sustainability but also health, well-being, and ecological restoration. The demand for professionals capable of addressing these challenges is growing, and higher education institutions must adapt by developing flexible and specialized training programs. BUILD2050 aims to bridge this gap by providing innovative, European-wide education in sustainable construction.
