PROBLEM - Social exclusion of young people from the social, civic, and democratic sphere due to a lack of knowledge about opportunities for empowerment and human development. This problem stems from a number of factors and affects young people and those who directly and/or indirectly intervene and/or deal with them. a) Young people When young people are not actively involved in social, civic, and democratic life, whether through ignorance, disinterest, and/or misinformation, the consequences are clear throughout their personal, social, professional, and cultural path. In terms: - Personal: demotivation, no future perspective and no ability to understand their ambition and talent, since they do not explore the possibilities and cannot filter what they more or less identify with; - Social: disconnection with the community, inability to be included in the dynamics and lack of perception of their importance and value as citizens, since young people do not get involved and are not empowered to understand the common needs and do not take the risk of defining solutions; - Professional: young people are unable to assess their areas of interest and to invest in them, becoming less entrepreneurial and resilient; - Cultural: young people without knowledge of European identity, culture and diversity, disconnected from the other and unwilling to face new challenges that force them to leave their comfort zone. b) Youth workers (YW) The exclusion of young people makes the work of the YW more difficult and jeopardizes their ability to respond in an adequate manner to the real problems and needs that they face. For example, without the involvement of young people, youth workers are not able to: - Establish close relationship and, consequently, understand the problems, needs, expectations, ambitions and interests of each group; - Structure actions oriented to respond to them; - Create a healthy bridge between young people and the community (including agents and entities); - To "grab" young people and accompany them in the process of discovery and exploration of their future. c) Active and committed associations for youth change If young people are not committed to investing in themselves and in their empowerment, associations will find it more difficult to understand what their role is in the implementation of European priorities and strategies, as well as to carry out actions on the ground, to reach young people and to improve their work day after day. Therefore, in many cases, we see the stagnation of the work of associations which, without working together with young people, do not reach their goals and do not take a next step on their path. d) Community As expressed earlier, young people are an essential part of the future. It is on them that the change of paradigms, thoughts and behaviors of future generations depend. When young people do not seek opportunities and information, when they are not interested in social, civic and democratic life, and when they do not want to explore existing opportunities and thereby gain new knowledge and experiences, they are limiting the evolution of the community (their own and the European one) and stagnating an adaptation to the future. This limitation will be visible, e.g., in the inability to: - Expose their vision, opinion and argue; - Defend European social values and to question and seek solutions to common causes; - Identify problems, work together and take an active and responsible role for change; - Transferring their value to the community and making their role and skills known; - Adopt entrepreneurial attitudes and, with them, enable an improvement in the community; etc. NEEDS - To boost the involvement, connection and empowerment of young people in the social, civic and democratic sphere in order to promote their social inclusion; - To promote assertive opportunities for the empowerment and full development of young people by recognizing their interests and ambitions; - To promote assertive opportunities for the empowerment and improvement of the work of the Youth Workers Justice system, through specialization and the transfer of know-how and experiences; - To promote the creation of collaborative networks, by supporting and encouraging the development of youth actions; - To raise awareness and disseminate European strategies and priorities in the field of youth, making everyone jointly responsible for the consolidation of a strengthened European community. OBJECTIVES - Development of actions and activities focusing on the social inclusion of young people, empowerment and social, civic and democratic participation; - Empowerment of young people through the development of multiple, adjusted and appealing skills and experiences; - Empowerment of youth workers through the development of skills and experiences that translate into improved youth work; - Creation of collaborative networks for the increase and improvement of youth actions;
