Regardless of which countries we come from, we all come from childhood and the first ideas about the world as a whole and what is good and what is bad we get through fairy tales. And then we live our whole lives with these values, beliefs and behavior. Therefore, as part of this youth exchange, we want to look at fairy tales from a new perspective. We want to look at fairy tales through the prism of the diversity of cultures and countries and to understand which heroes and why take place in different parts of Europe. We want to discuss, how human rights are violated in fairy tales and how can we rewrite stories. Is it ok that the prince kisses Sleeping Beauty without her permission? Was Cinderella cheating by pretending to be someone she’s not? Was Jack justified in stealing from the giant on top of the beanstalk? Was the Gingerbread Man wrong to trust the fox? Should he have assumed that all foxes are bad? How do we decide whom to trust? And we want to remind youngsters of how important is to think critically in all aspects of life, even in those came to us from parents and teachers. Therefore, the aim of the youth exchange is to give the opportunity for youth from different backgrounds to reflect on diversity, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue through fairy tales, to experience different methods of non-formal education in order to raise awareness about human rights and encourage developing soft skills needed in their personal and professional life. The objectives of the youth exchange are: - to raise youngsters’ awareness about European values and to help them to become more sensitive towards the actual global challenges; - to promote inclusion, diversity, equality, solidarity, empathy and tolerance and to foster intercultural understanding between people of different origins; - to equip youngsters with knowledge and tools about creative thinking, storytelling, public speaking, teamwork and other soft skills through non-formal methods of learning; - to create space for sharing knowledge and exchanging ideas with the atmosphere of common understanding between peers representing different cultures and backgrounds. - to promote different opportunities under Erasmus + and the Youthpass as a tool for the recognition of non-formal competences.
