We wanted to carry out this project because we knew that we could share valuable insights and skills about homesteading and the path to true sustainability living. We knew that the topic is quite trendy and many people are questioning and talking about it but sometimes are misled by companies, supposed experts, social media etc. Our main goal was to filter all of that information, to make youngsters think for themselves and to give them a wide range of skills related with the topic. We believed that the rural context could bring lots of great opportunities for youngsters to explore: - the rural life, the rural potential for self-employability, - to show them that it is possible to live in the rural area in a cool community setup and at the same time linked to a network of like minded people; - Networking with other NGO´s in Europe, and around the world. - active citizenship , We need more young people involved in creating positive impact (at an environmental lever, in their communities and within themselves). Together with partners we wanted to tackle the topic to create a platform for youth to gain new skills and insights on their opportunities. This project was a great opportunity to explore youth unemployment, social equity, economic fairness and environmental development in the rural context – it had great potential to empower youngsters with few opportunities (our target group) and develop a sense of European belonging at the same time that fosters the sense of community. These group of partners wanted to achieve the following goals, all of these are considered Erasmus+ goals in the key action 1 field: - to create 2 NGO´s that work with the topic that can be more involved in youth mobilities actions - to use Permaculture and non-formal methods as main working tools to create a fruitful atmosphere in all involved - to share skills related with sustainability and homesteading - to explore skills for self-employment and project development (market opportunities related with sustainability and access to tools for development of youngsters projects - to give opportunities to marginalised youngsters and youth with few opportunities - to capacitate our youngsters to be more involved in youth initiatives and to become youth leaders - to create follow up actions with their involvement related with this initiative - to promote self-learning, self development and life long learning process - to promote active citizenship and healthy lifestyles - to promote intercultural learning and European citizenship
