The partnership of 3 youth organisations from Romania, Bulgaria and Portugal during 1 year aimed to achieve the following: Equip young people (especially those in rural and remote areas, also those with difficult financial circumstances, refugees and Roma) with competencies required for working remotely and start an online career; -Promote inclusiveness in remote work and create conditions for more young people with fewer opportunities to enter the online workforce; -Update and improve competencies of non-profit associations and youth workers in helping young people become more employable in the current job market; -Increase the capacity of the non-profit sector to help young people to boost their sense of initiative and entrepreneurship; -Increase the opportunities for NGOs to support young people with fewer opportunities in their struggle to become more competitive in the online job market; - Promote the idea of remote work as a new norm and an opportunity for those young people who don’t have much access to the regular job market.
The aim of this project was to contribute to the reduction of unemployment in the EU, especially in the context of COVID-induced challenges, focusing on supporting people with fewer opportunities. Due to the development of computer and Internet technologies, young people with fewer opportunities could take the advantage of remote work available now – and we wanted to support them in this journey, connecting them with successful online workers that could share their way to a sustainable employment, and introducing them to key players in the job market in their region – who could provide full time or part time online jobs. We wanted to create a bridge for local people, especially youngsters with fewer opportunities, where they could learn about the specifics of online work, obtain competencies and would be able to create added value to their community. There was still not much support is available for young people who would like to benefit from the shift to the digital economy and work relations. We strongly believe this project was beneficial not only for the direct participants but to other young people and youth workers beyond the project group.
