Objectives

Through the implementation of the project we, teachers, wanted to learn, "soft skills" methods-communication methods, group cohesion, awareness, in order to support children with emotional problems and from disadvantaged backgrounds, to help them integrate in the school society. We also wanted to learn non-formal methods so that the lessons become more attractive and the students are more motivated to learn. Last but not least, we wanted to learn to use phones, tablets and laptops, different applications, for teaching purposes, because the Covid pandemic caught us totally unprepared and digitization was a MUST. In addition, the use of these gadgets in the teaching-learning-evaluation process makes the lessons more attractive for students, more current. Overall, we wanted some of the school's teachers to perfect themselves abroad, to exchange good practices with other European colleagues, to establish links with them in view of future collaborations, to breathe new life into the school for the teachers and the students. We wanted to make a change, to evolve, to promote the school, to increase the school population in the institution, to get to know other European cultures and values, to fit the school into the European dimension.

Background

FAITH was the first project financed by European Commission through the Erasmus+ in our school. The lack of European experience spoke for itself. The methods used by the teachers were predominantly classical, the Covid pandemic surprised us without being prepared in terms of digitalization and the students enrolled in our school were fewer and fewer. Also, following a needs analysis, it was found that over 80% of our school's students came from disadvantaged backgrounds (children with parents who work abroad, with emotional problems, divorced families, with financial difficulties),students with special needs, in foster care) As a result of some presentations of Erasmus projects of other schools within teacher’s meetings or training sessions of the school inspector for European projects, a team of 3 teachers wrote the application form and, in about 6 months we received the news of the funding. The implementation team was appointed -5 teachers, but in the implementation process other teachers also participated: in the selection team, the teachers who participated in the mobility, teachers who were involved in the organization and development of an international symposium, but also auxiliary staff: secretary, accountant, administrator
