Objectives

As mentioned in the application form, over the past 16 years, Ofensiva Tinerilor has tirelessly worked to promote diversity and combat prejudice, both locally and across Europe. While we've achieved some successes, concerning survey results from the Arad region in Romania in 2018 and 2019 demonstrated alarming levels of exclusion and bias among young people, largely influenced by media. Ongoing research further highlights issues of exclusion and bullying based on perceived differences, consistent with UNESCO's findings in Europe. These challenges extend beyond Arad, reflecting a broader trend of rising extremism and negative prejudices across the continent. In response, our mission has become one of support for young people in embracing diversity and achieving social justice through anti-bias education workshops. Our programs have been quite successful so far, impacting attitudes and behaviours significantly. To continue our work, we seek to enhance cross-border exchanges, sharing our expertise and learning from others, ultimately aiming to benefit more European youth and promote inclusion, diversity, and solidarity. Or organization has taken a strong commitment when it comes to addressing pressing issues among European youth, including discrimination, oppression, high rates of bullying, exclusion of young people with disabilities, and inadequacies in the education system. Discriminatory behaviour is still prevalent among young individuals, affecting up to 50% of them based on factors like religion, gender, ethnicity, race, disability, or sexual orientation. Bullying, including cyberbullying, is a significant concern, impacting over 30% of local youth. Youth with disabilities face substantial exclusion from youth activities. Schools often fail to promote tolerance, equality, and essential life skills. To tackle these challenges, we aim to foster peer education, youth empowerment, and to build the capacity of youth-serving organizations across Europe, ultimately creating a network of advocates for social justice and combating discrimination. The main objectives we set for this year were the following: 1. Promoting inclusion and diversity, intercultural dialogue, and the values of solidarity and tolerance among around 300 young people (of which at least 12 with disabilities) from at least 10 European countries; 2. Fostering the empowerment of at least 50 young people (of which 15 engaged at Arad level) to participate in promoting inclusion and diversity, intercultural dialogue, and the values of solidarity and tolerance among 300 of their peers; 3. Fostering quality development of youth work at local level in communities from at least 10 European countries by building capacity to promote inclusion and diversity, intercultural dialogue, and the values of solidarity and tolerance, for at least 20 organisations and 20 youth workers.
