Objectives

RiYW draws from resilience counseling with queer and trans people, making this information accessible and practical to apply by youth workers and educators in their daily work with young queer communities. It is full of resilience strategies, practices and activities that one can use to explore the unique resilience in oneself have related to gender and sexual orientation identities, as well as how to navigate life when faced with discrimination. THe project addressed two important needs that are visible among youth workers actively involved in youth work. The first of these needs was their lack of knowledge of practical, yet innovative and "user-friendly" methods that can be employed with individuals or groups and even within local communities and be used for the benefits of LGBT+ target groups. The second need was the observed reluctance to use methods promoting youth work through auto-reflection and resilience building that stems from either lack of knowledge or appreciation of their potential in youth work. We outlined following objectives: -supporting professional development of the youth workers based in partner countries by providing tailor-made solution- based tools for youth work activities; -practicing new ways of approaching and supporting young people that are now, more than ever, in difficulty of finding a safe space where their experiences are welcomed and shared; -discover alternative ways of working with topic of diversity and inclusion in EU countries; -increasing wellbeing of the youth workers and via them their target groups by working on issues such as mental and emotional health, self-worthiness; -promoting methodology that combines the best of both worlds - digital and analogue - that could be applied regardless of external circumstances, i.e. lockdown, physical distance, but that can fulfil the basic need to reach out to youth and help them create the safe space for their personal growth; -generating new ideas for challenges relating to the Europe-wide youth trends and exchanges experiences, expertises and best practices from the field of inclusive youth work; - enhancing the working experience of youth workers with fewer opportunities by providing non-commercial professional development activities -creating a network of organisations interested in resilience.
