By implementing the project we wanted to improve the awareness of the students and also local community about the importance of water for our existenceand the problems related to irresponsible use of water with its devastatting effects on the future. We have established the following specific objectives: - To increase knowlegdeabout water from different perspectives- scientific, cultural, literary, artistic, historical- by at least 60% of the students - To raise students awareness of the importance of water for the humankind (min 70% of the students) - To help students identify general problems about water shortage and personalize them to their local context - To foster students civic engagement in community problems related to ecology and strenghten the role of the school in the local community - To develod student’s soft skills, creativity and cultural awareness - To improve language and digital skills - To create water-friendly schools.
We applied for this project because in our living place we had in the past years problems with the water resources, with the quality and with the quantity of the water too. We wanted to have partners who have maybe similar problems, if not then to have water in their region. Since we are living in a rural area we have enough water in our region but there are problems in the summertime when very dry period occures and then there isn’t enough water in the region, neither in the wells, neither in the rivers. We wanted also- with the help of the project- to make some steps forward in order to fasten the building of the aqueduct system in our village. The work it was started but it is not finished yet. Another reason to apply this project it was to explain other schools what problems do we and to know what kind of problems do other schools or regions in other countries have. Our students are learning English language, and one of the most important needs it was to have somebody from a foreign country to speak in English. Hosting students was great idea in order to use and to learn English.
