The REDEAL project aimed to: 1. Develop a comprehensive framework to professionalize the role of community learning facilitators, recognizing their pivotal role in adult education. 2. Elaborate a tailored community learning curriculum designed to meet the unique needs of adults in these communities, focusing on inclusivity and accessibility. 3. Implement a pilot program in select rural communities to test and refine the project's methodologies, ensuring their effectiveness and adaptability. 4. Create a replicable model of community learning that could be adopted across various European contexts, particularly in areas where educational opportunities are scarce.
The REDEAL project was conceived in response to the stark disparities in educational opportunities between urban centers and rural or less developed regions. These disparities not only limit personal growth and development for adults in such communities but also perpetuate cycles of socio-economic disadvantage. The formal education system often falls short in reaching out to these communities, leaving a void in lifelong learning and vocational training opportunities. This project aims to bridge this gap by fostering accessible and inclusive lifelong learning environments, thus enabling individuals in disadvantaged areas to partake in personal and professional development opportunities that were previously out of reach.
